- Abstract
The article discusses the history, use, effects and safety concerns related to glyphosate [N-(phosphonomethyl) glycine] herbicide. It includes increased use of genetically modified (GM) glyphosate-tolerant crops, movement of glyphosate in plant ecology and inhibit of enzyme 5-enolpyruvyl-shikimate 3-phosphate synthase (EPSPS). Effects of glyphosate concerning human health include its inhibition of cytochrome P450 enzyme and illness such as cancer and Alzheimer's disease.
