This article focuses on the quality of physical activity in three Texas elementary schools. Senate Bill 19 of the Texas State Legislature mandates a minimum allotment per week of physical education. Strengths and weaknesses of the programs in the three schools, as measured by the System of Observing Fitness Instruction Time (SOFIT), are discussed.
