- Abstract
Until recently, there have been few attempts to incorporate Latin America into the contemporary comparative capitalism debate. In this regard, Schneider's ([3]) two new varieties of capitalism effectively incorporated Latin American economies into the debate on capitalist diversity, while succeeding in maintaining the theoretical elegance of the original VoC framework. He labels four distinct types of capitalism in which combinations of these six dimensions shape different patterns of institutional allocations: (1) international outsourcing capitalism (IOC), (2) socio-developmentalist capitalism (SDC), (3) liberal rentier capitalism (LRC), and (4) redistributive rentier capitalism (RRC).
