- Title
Restoring Social Theorists of Color to the Canon.
- Authors
Rodgers, Diane M.
- Abstract
This book review discusses the importance of including social theorists of color in the sociological canon. The book profiles ten neglected social theorists of color and highlights their contemporary relevance. The review explores the reasons why these theorists have been overlooked, including racial, ethnic, and Eurocentric bias, as well as the intersection of race, ethnicity, and gender. The book also addresses the limitations and conditions that shaped the theoretical output of these theorists and argues for their inclusion in the canon. Overall, the book provides a valuable resource for undergraduate and graduate theory courses and emphasizes the need for a more inclusive and diverse understanding of social theory.
