- Title
Robyn Kina.
- Abstract
The article presents information on painter Robyn Kina and two of her paintings. Kina was convicted for the murder of her abusive defacto husband Tony Black, in 1988, in Queensland. After serving a six year sentence, the Queensland Court of Appeal set aside her conviction, concluding that the judicial system had not taken an account of her abusive treatment by Black, during her defense, and had thereby failed her. Kina is engaged in providing assistance to other victims of domestic violence, after her release. She had painted her painting titled 'The Dance of Freedom,' three weeks after her release, as a celebration of her freedom. Another painting called 'Birth of Our Future,' was painted after her release to commemorate the birth of her sister's child
