- Abstract
The results of dilatometric studies into the process of high-temperature treatment (sintering) of zirconates (CaZrO3, SrZrO3, BaZrO3) and ceramics based on Y2O3 -stabilized ZrO2 (YSZ) are presented. Dilatometric data for each composition are expressed as a function of coefficients of linear thermal expansion (CLTE) versus temperature. High-temperature treatment of zirconate samples was shown to proceed in several stages, which are different for each zirconate composition depending on the occurring structural phase transformations. In order to sinter YSZ and SrZrO3, isothermal exposure at a temperature of 1,550°C for 6 hours was found to be sufficient, although not providing complete densification of CaZrO3 and BaZrO3.
