- Abstract
This article presents information related to identification and expression in a putative galactosyl transferase gene. The identification of the vertebrate homologs of Drosophila genes involved in conserved intercellular signaling pathways has provided rich resources for developmental studies. The Drosophila brainiac gene was originally identified through screen for sex-linked, female sterile genes. It cooperates with EGF receptor tyro sine kinase to regulate several aspects of follicular epithelium morphogenesis. It has also been shown that brainiac is required in several developmental processes that require Notch signaling.
