- Abstract
The article focuses on the evaluations made by the Environmental Resources Management Ltd. (ERM) to permit-to-work (PTW) systems as part of its risk control systems audits in Great Britain. ERM's audit protocol is based on the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) guidance called "Successful Health and Safety Management." The evaluations suggest that PTW systems should have supported and recorded purpose and objectives, and responsibility for these systems should be clearly allocated. In addition, the assessments recommend that development and review of PTW systems should consider consultation with relevant groups, including contractors.
