- Abstract
In order to clarify the aerodynamic enhancement on the bipolar transverse plate electrostatic precipitator (BESP), based on the classical Deutsch formula of electrostatic precipitator (ESP), the aerodynamic influence on the collection efficiency of BESP was analyzed. The numerical simulation results show that the migration velocity of charged particles in the BESP is the sum of the electrostatic migration velocity and the aerodynamic migration velocity. The aerodynamic enhancement amplitude of windward side of the plates is stronger than that of the leeward side. Due to the lower speed in the return flow region, the leeward side of the plates are the main dust deposition areas. The experimental results show that the aerodynamic migration velocity is proportional to the quadratic of the gas velocity. When the wind speed is lower than 1. 5 m/s, the aerodynamic migration velocity is strengthened by the gas flow. However, when the wind speed is higher than 1. 5 m/s, the aerodynamic migration velocity is reduced by the dust re-entrainment. When the structural parameters are constant, the correction formula of the collection efficiency shows that the collection efficiency of BESP is determined by both electrostatic force and aerodynamic force.
