- Abstract
The article discusses the law of mathematician Alfred Lotka on the authorship and citations of scientific articles. It is expressed that 25 authors produce two articles, 11 produce three and one author produce ten or more articles for every 100 authors on the inverse-square law of productivity. The law implies citation counting as the best mean to be prominent and honorable in science. Furthermore, it predicts the ranking distribution of the authors within the list in which they are assumed productive based on the frequency of their names in the publication.
