The article discusses hidden meanings of renaissance art and their interpretation. The article refers to the painting "The Flagellation," painted by mathematician Piero della Francesca in fifteenth-century Italy and suggests that the interpretation reveals new mathematical features that push our understanding of Piero's geometrical vision. It is suggested that art history often ignores mathematics.
