- Abstract
This article examines the portrayal of white urban masculinity in the popular TV show "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." It focuses on two characters, Dennis and Mac, and argues that they represent exaggerated versions of toxic masculinity and homohysteria. The show uses dark comedy to critique traditional expectations of power and dominance, highlighting the regressive and self-destructive nature of these behaviors. It also explores the characters' struggles with their own identities and the societal pressures they face. Overall, the show challenges narrow views of masculinity and offers a more inclusive understanding of gender.
