- Abstract
Knowledge of the pathology that affects the oral mucosa, in various population grups is essential for both the general practice dentist and the specialist. In the oral mucosa various pathologies of an infectious, inflammatory, neoplastic order, secondary to systemic diseases or the product of trauma can occur The objective of this article is to describe a disorder of traumatic origin, which occurs in the pediatric population. It is associated with the eruption of the lower teeth, since the infant during feeding causes friction of neighboring structures, causing loss of epithelial continuity. It has been described since the eighteenth century and is considered a rare benign alteration that affects this population group, causing significant discomfort such as the inability to feed, weight loss and great concern of the child's pa¬rents, which is why it is a cause for request pediatric consultation. Its management requires the intervention of the pediatric stomatology specialist, who will be responsible for providing a treatment that prevents the infantfrom feeding from continuing to deepen the ulcer. The use of materials that cover the cutting edges of the teeth involved is recommendad.
