- Abstract
This article compares cross-national judgments of emotional displays. Accordingly, American, British and Mexican male college students were recruited to serve as judges of the affective themes demonstrated in the silently presented filmed stories of normal and schizophrenic stimulus persons. Research on the influence of cultural display rules on judgments of spontaneous affective behavior within and across cultures, however, has been hindered by difficulty in obtaining reliable judgments of such affective displays.
