- Abstract
Currently, activities involving traffic psychology prevail linked to psychological assessment. However, psychology requires specific discipline prioritizing traffic safety, since drivers represent the predominant factor in cases of traffic accidents in Brazilian territory. In view of the above, a literature review was carried out, including retrospective and prospective studies conducted in Brazil that addressed the importance of psychology in traffic. Articles were compiled from the databases of the Periodical Portal Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes), in addition to literature relating to traffic psychology. The literature analyzes occurred due to the approach to the theme of psychological practice in traffic. Through the selected documents, the issues of accidents, education, prevention, psychological assessment, expertise, sleep quality and context in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic were examined. The results reveal that the relationship between traffic psychology and education has been highlighted from different contexts, audiences, theoretical approaches and methodologies. It is clear that research indicates that the educational approach focused on traffic psychology needs to consider traffic issues as a social context. The articles highlight the notoriety of psychological practices communicating with other areas of knowledge, thus highlighting the pluridisciplinarity understood in educational, intervention and prevention strategies.
