- Abstract
We experienced a patient with LMI who showed spontaneous upbeat contratorsional nystagmus with downbeat ipsitorsional nystagmus during horizontal gaze in the chronic stage. In eccentric eye position, the direction of the horizontal component of SN can be reversed due to a coexistent involvement of the gaze-holding mechanism, but gaze-evoked nystagmus beats toward the direction of eye position. The nystagmus during gaze on 7-month follow-up had the same direction to both sides and the patient finally showed ipsilesional nystagmus during both neutral position and horizontal gaze on 1-year follow-up.
