- Abstract
[Objective]The present study was aimed to breed new high-quality and high-yield rice variety in order to improve yield and quality of fine grain quality rice in Guangxi. [Method]The rice variety Yusi 6 was developed from excellent segregated plants of rice variety Huanghuazhan by using systematic selection of 4 generations during 2 years. The comprehensive trait performances of Yusi 6 were investigated in variety comparative test during 2009-2010 and Guangxi regional trial and production test during 2011-2012. [Result]The growth duration of new rice variety Yusi 6 was 127.5 d at early cropping and 117.0 d at late cropping, respectively. The variety was charactered by 109.1 cm of plant height, 22.8 cm of panicle length, 155.9 grains per panicle, 73.5% of seed setting rate, and 23.6 g of 1000-grain weight. The yield of Yusi 6 presented the highest yield (7449.00 and 7599.00 kg/ha) in variety comparative test in 2010, which increased by 11.20% and 8.1% as compared to the control Liushayouzhan 202. The average yields of Yusi 6 were 7393.50 and 6630.00 kg/ha in Guangxi regional trial during 2011-2012, which increased by 2.05% and 9.09% as compared to the control Liushayouzhan 202. Being high-yield, stable yield, fine grain quality, stronger tillering ability and wide adaptability, etc., Yusi 6 was registered and certified by Guangxi Committee for Crop Variety Registration in June, 2013. [Conclusion]Yusi 6 has good extending and applying prospect, it is suitable for planting as early and late cropping in southern and central regions of Guangxi and double-cropping rice planting regions of South China with similar climatic condition.
