- Abstract
The agribusiness in Petrolina/Juazeiro Pole has allowed deep changes in the agricultural space by the priority to the agribusiness, a model focused on external the foreign market based on mango and grape cultivation to the detriment of family farming of beans, maize and manioc. Therefore the land is being used as a profitable business in order to meet the needs of the world market of food, at a time food products are becoming scarce, continuous price oscillations, and contributing to the increase of hunger. To this effect, developed in Petrolina-PE, municipality that has excelled in fruit exports from the years 1990 the paper aimed to analyze the food crisis from intensifying the use of agrochemicals and the production of agricultural commodities in the agricultural field in Petrolina. The high growth of commodities provided by the agribusiness model has led to a ever-growing increase of prices of basic foods and this way expanding the food (in)security.
