- Abstract
This paper interprets the cinematographic representations of Latin American's, who for economic reasons immigrated to Spain, between 1996 and 2008. In line with the model of socio-historical analysis of the film product, cinema was used as a manifestation of social representations and ideological expressions, and a dialogue was established with the contributions of the fields of History, Sociology and Poscolonial Studies. In this process, the cinema reflects a series of socio-demographic aspects presents in this diaspora. In addition, simultaneously, it denounces the social conflicts present in this migratory phenomenon and emits stereotyped models, propagating sequels of a neocolonialist hegemonic discourse.
