- Abstract
The particle-in-cell (PIC) simulation of the operation characteristics of A6 relativistic magnetron with stepped cavities was performed. It was found that when the A6 stepped-cavity relativistic magnetron with axial radiation driven by transparent cathode applied with 405 kV voltage,the peak output power was 1. 58 GW and the peak electronic efficiency was 72%. In the further PIC simulation, it was found that when secondary electrons emission occurs,the output power reduction and anode current reduction for the relativistic magnetron using stepped-cavity was not less than 5% while which was more than 15% for relativistic magnetron with traditional tapered cavity or radial extraction. Finally, we got that it was advantageous for A6 relativistic magnetron to use stepped-cavity to improve the output power and electronic efficiency,while the influence of secondary electrons emission or mode competition can be suppressed.
