- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the function of neuropeptide Y (NPY) in regulating brown adipose tissue (BAT) functions and the possible involvement of STAT3 transcription factor. The study involves the evaluation of the effect of NPY on brown adipocytes Y1, Y5 NPY receptor messenger RNA (mRNA), and stromal vascular cells (SVC) expressing Y1 NPY receptor mRNA. It concludes that NPY increases gene transcription by extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK) and STAT3 pathway.
