- Abstract
Starting from film by the Istituto Luce and some newspaper articles, the essay focuses on the organization and communication of a theatrical performance created for the inauguration of the Museo Duca di Martina in Naples. The event, set up by the Italian Red Cross, fits fully into the initiatives that, during the fascist era, are carried out for the promotion of cultural heritage and for the involvement of various publics who, in the early twentieth century, require greater accessibility to the museum and in general, to culture. The comparison between the event's message (which was a huge success) and the museum's cultural project is the ultimate goal of this study, which invites us to reflect, considering the remarkable tendency towards the theatricalization of the museum's story, on the increasingly indispensable connection between the mission of the institute and a simple, accessible, but consistent communication.
