- Abstract
The article discusses aspects on the beliefs of vernacular religion associated with the ideals of traditional and tribal societies in the context of globalization. It notes the religious practices of the indigenous Finno-Ugric peoples who are living in the provinces of European Russia as a post-Soviet Russian which means ethnic mobilisation. It also provides an overview of the history of spiritual tradition of Mari folk culture in the provinces of Russia.
