The article discusses the role of British socialite Pamela Churchill, later known as Pamela Digby Churchill Harriman, in binding the U.S. and Great Britain during World War II. According to the article, Pamela Churchill married Randolph Churchill, the son of British prime minister Winston Churchill in October 1939. The article states she also conducted love affairs with U.S. businessman W. Averell Harriman, U.S. journalist Edward R. Murrow, and U.S. Office of Strategic Services executive John Hay "Jock" Whitney. The article discusses Pamela Churchill's cultivation of relationships with influential Americans, including former U.S. president Franklin D. Roosevelt and U.S. political adviser Harry L. Hopkins.
