The article examines the relationship between an insurance carrier that hired a lawyer to represent a policyholder, which is called the tripartite relationship. Potential conflicts in this kind of relationship in insurance law are also discussed. The author concludes that this area of the law that governs the tripartite relationship has no consistency.
