- Abstract
This article discusses a case of necrobiotic xanthogranuloma (NXG), a rare condition associated with systemic disorders such as multiple myeloma. The patient in this case had severe eyelid complications due to NXG, resulting in blurry vision, eye pain, and other symptoms. The most effective treatments for NXG are intravenous immunoglobulins (IVIg), corticosteroids, or a combination of both. However, in this case, the patient declined systemic treatment and opted for antibiotic therapy and topical medication. Surgical reconstruction of the eyelids was performed using porcine xenografts, which successfully aided in healing and prevented new lesions. The article concludes that eyelid reconstruction surgery with xenografts can be a temporary option for severe cases of NXG when other treatments are not available.
