- Abstract
The article reports on air-sea exchange in hurricanes. The Coupled Boundary Layers and Air-Sea Transfer (CBLAST) experiment was conducted during 2000-2005 to enhance the understanding of physical processes at the air-sea interface. It is noted that energy exchange at the air-sea interface is one of the three processes involved in hurricane intensity change. The other two are environmental interactions with surrounding large-scale features in the atmosphere, and internal dynamics like eyewall replacement cycles and cloud microphysics.
