- Abstract
This article discusses the prognosis for the retirement income of baby boomers, whose oldest cohort is rapidly approaching retirement age. It discusses the possible ramifications of the increase of participant-directed defined contribution pension plans on resulting retirement income of the baby boomers. The implications of saving and investment decisions of individuals is examined, as well as the impact of fundamental changes in the Social Security system and federal tax reform.
