- Title
Shame in Restoration in Ezekiel.
- Authors
Ortlund, Eric
- Abstract
The article discusses the current research on shame in Ezekiel by arguing that shame in restoration cannot be understood according to the normal patterns of shame or honor relations within an ancient Semitic context, but is interpreted in relation to the recognition of YHWH in the book of Ezekiel in Israel. It provides a detailed account on the two aspects of shame in restoration in Ezekiel which distinguish it from the normal pattern of ancient Israelite shame or honor relationships. Also explored are the few attempts which have been made to interpret shame in restoration.
