- Abstract
The article underscores the first reported records of the leopard cusk-eel Lepophidium pardale (Ophidioidei: Ophidiidae) off the west coast of Baja California Sur, México. It states that the family Ophidiidae contains 48 genera and 222 species, distributed in tropical and temperate waters of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian oceans. Relative to this, during the demersal trawl surveys along the west coast of the State of Baja California Sur from October 2004 to March 2006, 46 specimens of the leopard cusk-eel were captured. The largest concentrations of this fish were found between Bahia Magdalena and the coast of Todos Santos B. C. S. Mexico.
