- Abstract
Introduction: The presence of the terms "medical professionals" and "non-medical professionals" is increasingly common in official documents and texts, revealing an idea of separation between them. Objective: To initiate a discussion about the denomination "nonmedical professional", broadening the view on the nuances that involve the interprofessional relations. Methods: Theoretical-reflective study, based on literature and perception of the authors, seeking to discuss the work of the multiprofessional team in the context of Portuguesespeaking countries. The thematic emerged from the readings and group discussions held in the discipline Health and Nursing in the scenario of the Portuguese speaking countries, of the Academic Master's Degree in Nursing at the University of International Integration of Afro- Brazilian Lusophony. Results: Each professional is unique and has a specific and indispensable function for the integral attention to the health of the people. We understand that such denomination is erroneous and disrespectful with the other categories, since all promote the promotion of human well-being in all aspects of life. Conclusion: The multiprofessional team is a space for true interaction and mutual learning, despite the mere notion of a grouping of professionals with different techniques to achieve the same goal, which is the health of being cared for.
