- Abstract
The article discusses the man-made famine imposed by then Russian leader Joseph Stalin to suppress the Ukrainian nationalism in 1932-1933 during Holodomor and force his collectivasation. The Bolsheviks alienated Ukrainian peasant farmers through forced grain requisition. It cites the Ukrainian indigenisation efforts to resist the Russian power in the Soviet Union. Stalin confiscated food and locked resisting farmers in collective farms, leading to massive famine and death of many.
