- Abstract
Motivation Protocol change is often necessary to ensure patient care is optimized and in line with current best practice. Nursing plays a pivotal role in the development of new protocols, including providing clinical expertise, patient perspective on the need for change, administrative support, and much more. When faced with new protocol change, it is extremely useful to speak to others who have been through the process before in order to learn best practices and streamline processes. Approach The design of this session will include a panel of three or four nurses who have been through protocol change in the recent past and can speak to their experiences. Each person will present a snapshot of their experience, highlighting one key learning that audience members will be able to take away with them. (Sample agenda for three speakers: 15 minutes, speaker 1; 15 minutes, speaker 2; 15 minutes, speaker 3; 15 minutes, questions) Conclusion Participants will be able to recognize many of the challenges common to protocol change and strategies they can use to overcome those challenges.
