- Authors
Singo, Josephine
- Abstract
This work explores code-switching in doctor-patient communication in a setting where Shona is the first language and English the second for both the doctor and the client. Data was collected through observations and tape-recordings. The research reveals that code-switching has the potential to improve medical communication which can be instrumental to address communication challenges in clinical practice in a bilingual setting where the doctor and the patient share the first and second language.
