- Abstract
In this article, the author focuses on the glittering generalities as well as the historical myths reflected in the opinion of the U.S. Supreme Court in Buckley v. Valeo in 1976. He offers information on the statutory limitations on independent campaign expenditures justified by interests in fairness and efficiency. He also features historical myth of adoption of the Eleventh Amendment for expanding the doctrine of sovereign immunity.
