- Abstract
The article discusses the early life and career of architect Clifford Magee May, better known as Cliff May, in San Diego, California. It comments on his childhood, his work as a musician, and his study of business in college. The author reflects on May's beginnings as a furniture maker and his engagement with Spanish colonial revival architecture and ranch style architecture. She examines California buildings designed by May, including the O'Leary House, the Langston House, and the Sweetwater Woman's Club.
