- Title
Reform or Reshuffle? Consequences of the 2005 Missouri Tort Reform Act.
- Authors
Geisman, Barbara A.
- Abstract
The article discusses the Missouri's Tort Reform Act of 2005 and Supreme Court decisions to evaluate whether the Act improved business climate and abated filing of personal injury claims and professional malpractice insurance's cost. It concludes that the Act reduced the total number of tort claims filed across the state because of damages caps and venue changes. It informs that reduction in the cases also impacted litigation business and contributed to the recession of legal industry.
