- Abstract
One of the important concepts dealt with in career studies is career adaptability. Teacher candidates have many individual and environmental factors that affect their career adaptability. One of these factors may be the perceived control. In this study, it was aimed to examine the career adaptability of the teacher candidates continuing their education in different departments in terms of gender and perceived control. This work is designed as relational screening model. The study was conducted with 239 teacher candidates aged 20-34. The data were collected by the Career Adaptability Scale and the Domain General Perceived Control Scale. Regression analysis and the t-test technique were used. The result of the study indicates that perceived control explains pre-service teachers' career adaptability in a meaningful way. Moreover, it has been found that female teacher candidates have a higher level of career adaptability than male teacher candidates. Findings are discussed in the light of literature.
