The article presents research on the careers of sisters Hetty, Lily, and Rosie Pettigrew as artist's models in the late 1800's. Topics include the social implications of nude modeling in the era and the sisters' status as minor celebrities, their relationships with and role in work by artists such as John William Godward, James McNeill Whistler, and Theodore Roussel, and their lives after their modelling careers.
