The emperor envisioned a museum building which would house a Picture Gallery, and inspired by the design of the Pinakothek building in Munich, Germany. He hired the architect of Pinakothek, Leo von Klenze, to design the New Hermitage, which will house a museum uniting a vast variety of art objects.
