- Title
Caveat Emptor.
- Abstract
This article reports that through the courtesy of the management of Sotheby's of New York, Diana and Leo Miller were afforded the opportunity for advance private examination of documents pertaining to John Milton, which, according to a representative of the firm, had been cleared for authenticity by a scholar in England internationally known as an authority on 17th century British manuscripts. A second cordial session for further examination and discussion was held November 21, 1988. While conceding high respect for past published work by Roger W. Barrett, the Millers showed samples of Thomas Ellwood's script, contrasting strikingly with the handwriting in the offered manuscript.
