- Authors
STEIKER, CAROL S.; STEIKER, JORDAN M.
- Abstract
The article discusses American law reform efforts in relation to the nation's capital punishment laws as of March 2014, focusing on the claim that the U.S. is the only Western democracy that still retains a death penalty punishment. America's rule-of-law values, alleged racial disparities in the distribution of death sentences, and the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the death penalty-related legal case Furman v. Georgia are mentioned. The Eighth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is examined.
