- Abstract
The article presents a case of an 85-year-old woman with a solitary fibrous tumor of the kidney and a two-month history of abdominal pain. Solitary fibrous tumor is a mesenchymal tumor that has been described in both pleural-based and extrathoracic locations. The tumor is a variably cellular spindle cell neoplasm that can take on numerous patterns. Solitary fibrous tumor has a favorable prognosis, but a relatively low percentage of tumors will recur and metastasize.
