- Abstract
The article focuses on the four studies, which reveals the distribution of long interspersed element 1 (LINE-1 or L1) retrotransposon in human genome. The studies including those of University of Michigan's John Moran and colleagues use methods like mapping of fosmid-based genomic DNA libraries and polymerase chain reaction (PCR) amplification. The studies reveal prevalence and variation of L1 insertions in human genomes like introns, however the studies found no causal link of L1 in phenotypes.
