- Authors
Adams, George
- Abstract
Based on the format of the 1927 essay "Why I Am Not a Christian," by British philosopher Bertrand Russell, the author explores central beliefs of Buddhism. The Buddhist tenets discussed explore the religious nature of self and personal identity from the trilakṣaṇa, or the Three Marks of Existence, which includes the belief in anātman, or the loss of self; duṇkha, or suffering; and anitya, or impermanence. Sacred Buddhist texts referred to include "Questions of King Milinda," the "Diamond Sūtra," and the "Culamalinkya Sūtra."
