- Abstract
The article features Maud Karpeles, who was known for her Cecil Sharp folksong collection and her work for the International Folk Music Council. Karpeles started her collection after she read a book review by Lucy Broadwood of the book "Journal of the Folk-Song Society" as it had exposed her to the existence of Canadian folklorists that some Canadian regions can be a good source of English songs. Karpeles has also taught at the Amerst College and has traveled the world searching for songs that she could add to her collection.
