- Title
A COMPARISON OF SONATA FORMS IN HINDEMITH'S AND PERSICHETTI'S BAND SYMPHONIES.
- Authors
Tan, Leonard
- Abstract
The article offers information about a study on the comparison of the sonata form, a large scale musical structure, in the band symphonies of German musician Paul Hindemith and U.S. composer Vincent Persichetti. The study reveals that Hindemith's sonata form reflects eighteenth-century tonality while Persichetti's symphonies reflect nineteenth-century themes. It mentions that Hindemith was more concerned with large-scale tonal bands than Persichetti.
