The article describes the structure of transcription-repair coupling factor (TRCF). The two functions of TRCF include: the stalled RNA polymerase is recognized and removed, which requires dissociation of the ternary elongation complex and transcript termination, and DNA repair is stimulated by recruiting UvrA, a component of the nucleotide-excision-repair machinery. However, TRCF is one of the mechanisms of transcription termination in bacteria.
