Moody, Alys
- Abstract
The essay focuses on artist Paul Chan's 2007 production of the play "Waiting for Godot in New Orleans," based on the play "Waiting for Godot" by Samuel Beckett, in post-Hurricane Katrina Louisiana, in the context of transnational modernism, producing a play in a different cultural or national context. Topics include the concept of cosmopolitanism and transationalism in performance, global performances of Beckett's play, and the Free Southern Theater's earlier production of the play in New Orleans.
