- Abstract
The article discusses the integration of poetry into science education to assist students with applying literary skills to science lessons, in light of the celebration of National Poetry Month in April. Topics include the Take 5 learning model, which aligns elements from the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and literacy skills from the Common Core State Standards, an explanation of the five steps of the Take 5 approach, and a Take 5 lesson plan example involving recycling.
